Diamond (Brilliant) Rummy Nose Tetra 2.5cm

Description

Diamond Rummy Nose

This unique species of fish originates from parts of the Amazon River Basin in South America, known for lush, tropical rainforests and stunning aquatic biodiversity. Diamond Rummy Nose are omnivorous, which means they eat both plant and animal matter. In their natural habitat, they feed on small invertebrates, insects, algae, and other small plant material. When it comes to keeping them in captivity, they do well with a variety of flake or pellet foods supplemented with occasional treats like frozen brine shrimp. The ideal companions for Diamond Rummy Noses are peaceful mid-dwellers such as tetras, Corydoras, angelfish, and Apistogramma. They should be housed in an aquarium that provides plenty of open swimming space and hiding spots, with a neutral pH between 6.0-7.2, an alkalinity between 4-8 dKH, and a temperature of 77-86 degrees Fahrenheit. These unassuming fish are known for their beautiful black diamond patterns adorning the head and white rummy nose, giving them their common name. As shoaling species, Diamond Rummy Noses thrive in groups of at least 6-8, so we recommend stocking accordingly. If you're looking to add some color and activity to your community tank, while also adding a unique bit of history, then Diamond Rummy Noses are an excellent choice! Their peaceful nature, lively temperament, and eclectic color scheme make them a stand-out in any aquarium.
