Fancy Guppy Pair Red Blonde Cobra

Description

The Fancy Guppy, also known as Poecilia reticulata, is a popular and colorful freshwater fish species, particularly known for its vibrant colors and distinct patterns. The Red Blonde Cobra Guppy is a specific variety of Fancy Guppies that feature a unique color combination of red and blonde with cobra-like patterns.

  1. Temperature: Fancy Guppies thrive in water temperatures ranging between 72°F to 82°F (22°C to 28°C). Maintaining a stable temperature is crucial to their well-being, as sudden fluctuations can stress the fish and make them more susceptible to diseases.

  2. Minimum Tank Size: For a pair of Fancy Guppies, a tank size of 10 gallons is generally recommended. However, larger tanks are preferable as they provide more space for the fish to swim and reduce territorial aggression.

Feeding Habits: Fancy Guppies are omnivorous and will readily accept a variety of foods. They should be fed a balanced diet consisting of high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms. It's important to avoid overfeeding, as excess food can pollute the water and lead to health issues.

Habitat Preference: These guppies prefer well-planted aquariums with plenty of hiding spots and open swimming areas. A mix of live and artificial plants will create a more natural environment and provide cover for fry (baby fish) if breeding is desired.

Water pH Level: Fancy Guppies can tolerate a relatively wide range of pH levels, but they generally prefer slightly alkaline water with a pH of around 7.0 to 8.0. It's essential to maintain stable water conditions and regularly monitor pH levels to ensure the well-being of the fish.

Behavior: Fancy Guppies are peaceful and social fish that are known to exhibit active and playful behavior. They are generally non-aggressive and can be kept with other peaceful fish species in community tanks. However, males can sometimes display territorial behavior, especially in smaller tanks, so it's essential to provide plenty of hiding spots and open swimming areas.

Fancy Guppies are social fish and prefer to be kept in groups of at least four or more to prevent any aggressive behavior. Having a group of these guppies not only enhances their natural behavior but also adds to the visual appeal of the aquarium.

Breeding: Guppies are prolific breeders and can reproduce quickly under suitable conditions. If you plan to breed them, consider providing dense vegetation, separate breeding tanks, and proper care for the fry, as adult guppies may consume their own offspring.
