Blue Neon Goby

Description

Blue Neon Goby

The freshwater blue neon goby is a popular aquarium fish, native to Southeast Asia. These gobies are known for their bright blue colour that resembles a neon light. They typically grow up to 5 cm in size, with a slender body and tapered head. They have an appealing yet shy nature, and tend to hide a lot during the day but become more active when the lights are switched off.

One of the main reasons why someone would want to keep a freshwater blue neon goby in their aquarium is because of its bright blue coloration. The bright blue colour will provide a beautiful contrast against the greenery in the tank, making them an attractive addition to any aquarium.

These fish are omnivorous, so their diet should consist of both meaty and plant-based foods. They prefer live or frozen foods, such as bloodworms and brine shrimp. Additionally, they will benefit from occasional treats of algae wafers and vegetable matter.

Freshwater blue neon gobies can be kept in a community tank with peaceful fish that are of similar size and temperament. Make sure to avoid predatory species, as well as other bottom dwellers as this may cause stress to the goby. The water parameters should be kept constant in the aquarium, with a temperature range of 22-26°C and pH levels of 6.5-7.5. Water hardness should be between 5-15 dGH.

Having a freshwater blue neon goby in the aquarium will add a sense of life and activity to the tank. They are also one of the few gobies that are comfortable living in warmer water, so they are perfect for those who want to keep tropical fish. One fun fact about these gobies is that some of them can actually change colour depending on their mood and age. If they are stressed or young for example, they will turn a greyish colour whereas if they are happy, older and content, they will turn a dark blue colour.
